Netflix documentaries that display "GRANT OF PERMISSION FOR EDUCATIONAL SCREENINGS" in their description can be shown publicly (in class). Navigate to Netflix's media center, search for the title you want, and click on it to see if it has the Grant of Permission. It does come with restrictions:
Showing a DVD/Blu-ray during class is covered by a specific copyright exemption (Section 110 of U.S. Copyright law), and showing clips can be covered by fair use (Section 107). However, there is no copyright exemption for streaming from your own subscription because the service's license overrules copyright exemptions.
